Matthew McCormack, president and owner of New Line Genealogy, L.L.C., is an expert genealogist with over 25 years experience in the field.

Born in Wayne County, Michigan, Matthew moved with his family to Dexter, Michigan at an early age. After graduating from Dexter High School, Matthew moved to Alpena, Michigan to live with his grandparents while attending college. Living among multiple generations within his own family sparked Matthew's love for history and genealogy. Here, he began to develop the ability to put together the puzzle of family histories, and he still enjoys the challenge of organizing the information and documents of every family history.

Ultimately, Matthew moved back to Washtenaw County, earning his Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University, with a major in history and a minor in historic preservation.

Matthew's time at Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village, as well as his experience as a sales associate at an Ann Arbor computer business, honed his research skills and his ability to help others learn to research their genealogies.

In September 2001, Matthew founded New Line Genealogy and now researches genealogies for clients around the United States.

New Line Genealogy, L.L.C. services include: research, compilation, and sourcing. The particular services provided vary from family to family. Some clients need organizational assistance to start research of their own family tree, while others require help with every aspect of their genealogy.

Matthew is an expert in organization and digitization of photographs and original documents. Photos and documents such as old letters can be lost forever in natural disasters or divided into obscurity with each passing generation. Digitizing these important images helps make them available to current family members as well as preserving them for future generations.

In recent years Matthew has been active on the Village of Dexter Planning Commission and helped create a heritage (historic) overlay district to offer a layer of protection for many village historic structures.  Matthew volunteers research with the Washtenaw County Genealogical Society in Southeast Michigan, and is the past editor for the Northeast Michigan Genealogical Society newsletter.  Matthew has also been appointed to the Arts, Culture and Heritage committee for the village of Dexter.
